Property Profile - Omni Louisville Hotel Mokara Spa
It is always a pleasure for Body Bliss to work on new spa openings. When the project is a new luxury hotel in Kentucky serving as the cornerstone of downtown Louisville, we are over the moon!
The Omni Louisville Hotel opened at the beginning of March to much acclaim. The LEED Silver certified property is situated one block from the Kentucky International Convention Center and many other iconic “Derby City” attractions. Featuring 612 luxury guest rooms and 70,000 square feet of event space, the hotel features a lobby art gallery, a Speakeasy with bowling alley, a 20,000 square foot urban lifestyle market, fitness center, rooftop swimming pool and bar, and, of course, the gorgeous 5,000 square foot Mokara spa.
The Omni Interior Design Group explored the history and elements that make Louisville unique, and found ways to bring those touches into the hotel. According to an article on the hotel opening, Mayor Greg Fischer said, “…hundreds of people from the Omni team flooded into not just the city, but the region around here as well. Learning about the history of our city, the future of our city, the plans that we have…it was really extraordinary.”
Designed by HKS and Waldrop + Nichols, the new Mokara Spa pays tribute to Louisville waterscapes like Ohio Falls, and the reception desk is installed before a water wall crafted with aquamarine and silver surfaces to convey a unique sensory experience. Tasked with planning and executing the launch on March 6th was Spa Director and Omni veteran, Marissa DeVane. Lucky for us, Marissa saw the opportunity to partner with Body Bliss for her treatment protocols and retail products.

“The majority of the Mokara Spa menu is Body Bliss! The product ingredients are so pure and the Body Bliss team was a pleasure to work with on this spa launch. My rep Lisa Schoenemann helped me decideon the Barefoot Botanist™ Collection for our signature massage, body treatments and nail services. We also offer most of the products incorporated in the services in the retail boutique. Our guests love choosing from the three scents, Lavender & Blue Chamomile (calming & soothing), Calendula & Orange Myrtle (renewing and uplifting), or Chai Spice & Vanilla (warming & grounding).”
Unique treatments featuring Body Bliss products include the Earth Clay Detox Wrap, a full body dry exfoliation, warm healing clay wrap, and a luxurious warm oil scalp treatment; Magnesium Melt Ritual & Massage, featuring our Magnesium Melt Body Polish to combat sore muscles and Aromatherapy Journey, where guests fashion their own unique blends from the Body Bliss organic and wild crafted essential oils.
Marissa has done an impressive job of integrating aromatherapy as a core element throughout the spa. Barefoot Botanist candles burn in the couple’s room to amplify the sensory experience. Hydrosol Mists are featured as an amenity in the locker rooms to sooth and hydrate the skin. These products are welcome purchases in the retail boutique, as guests strive to prolong their spa experience at home.
