How to Use Cinnamon Essential Oil: (See Precautions below)
1. For coughs and colds:
For use in a diffuser to set a mood and reduce airborne viruses, dilute one drop of Cinnamon essential oil with other essential oils such as sweet orange, tangerine or grapefruit. Benzoin or ylang ylang can add to the sweetness while calming the stimulating nature of Cinnamon oil.
As a chest pack, one drop of Cinnamon along with a few drops of other essential oils (5-7 total) such as lemon, eucalyptus, frankincense or ginger will increase the anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. Add to 1 ounce castor oil, apply to chest area and keep warm with a covering. (Note: Castor oil is sticky, so cover with a cloth you will not want to reuse.
2. For muscular aches and pains, arthritis or fatigue, use one drop of Cinnamon essential oil with any of the above listed essential oils (5-7 drops total) and add to 1oz carrier oil such as grapeseed, jojoba or sweet almond oil as a massage oil.
3. Use the above massage oil for digestive issues, massaging in clockwise circular motions on the abdomen.
PRECAUTIONS: As this oil can be a skin irritant, always dilute in a carrier such as jojoba or almond oil and begin with a skin patch test to be sure no rash arises. Avoid if taking anticoagulant medications. Cinnamon should not be used during pregnancy, while breastfeeding or for children under 18 years of age.
Dilution Instructions: Add no more than one drop of Cinnamon per 4oz of carrier oil.
(Note: Cinnamon Bark and Cinnamon Leaf have slightly different properties. Cinnamon bark, is more potent and should be used in greater dilution.)
