Property Profile: SunWater Spa

SunWater Spa in Manitou Springs holds a special place in our heart. The sister property of SunMountain Center, a premier wellness destination—SunWater Spa just celebrated its second anniversary. What makes Manitou Springs truly unique are the eight mineral springs that are historic landmarks.

While taking in the waters is a primary focus in the region, SunWater Spa takes it the next level. There are eight cedar pools available for use, filled with solar-heated water from the famous Seven Minute Spring. As the water heats, cedar oil is infused into the water, providing additional therapeutic benefits. The spring water is loaded with naturally occurring minerals including calcium, chloride, fluoride, iron, lithium, magnesium, potassium, silica, sodium, sulfate and zinc.

SunWater Spa consists of a state of the art building featuring three levels, two yoga rooms, three decks for lounging and soaking, a garden level with indoor saline therapy pool and hot and cold plunge pools and traditional and infrared saunas. The adjacent 100 year-old Tava building is unique and whimsical with views of Pike’s Peak, and houses all of SunWater’s spa services including a variety of massage and bodywork, facials and waxing. With a split of 60% local guests and 40% out-of-towners, SunWater caters to both the local community and discerning spa guests seasoned in luxury resort experiences. The spa has a strong connection with the local art community, showcasing locally created artwork. They also host spiritual physical workshops and events—striving to be a wellness hub for the community.

“What is unique about SunWater Spa is that we create a whole experience – from soaking in the cedar tubs, to aqua yoga class and movement classes, and of course our full-service spa,” says Gabriela Silva, Spa Services Manager.

“We are also the only place in town that offers guests the opportunity to soak and have treatments in mineral waters straight from the source.”

Body Bliss Intentional Aromatherapy is the ideal complement to the authentic mineral water treatments. Body Bliss essential oil blends are an integral part of the entire menu of spa services, including massage, body treatments, facials and aromatherapy. The Turquoise Sage Mountain Arnica Body Oil used in the Mountain Healer treatment soothes elite athletes and weekend warriors. Tree of Life Forest Bathing Body Oil takes center stage in the Tree of Life Treatment – a popular aromatherapy massage with hot towels, designed to simulate forest bathing.

The seven luxurious oils from the Body Bliss Chakra Balance Collection, designed to activate and nourish the chakras, are featured in the Chakra Journey. A wide range of products from the Chakra Balance Collection, Turquoise Sage, Tree of Life and Ocean Dew are also available in the retail boutique.

Unlike many mountain spas, SunWater is fortunate to have year round demand. In addition to the eight mineral springs, biking, hiking, kayaking and many other outdoor activities attract global interest in the region. With a wide range of treatments and programs to satisfy both locals and tourists, SunWater is well-positioned for long term success. We can’t wait to visit!
